The autofocus system isn't really 'autofocus'. It is a measuring system - you manually focus the first slide, which sets the distance from the front of the slide in the gate to the back of the projection lens. By the focus motor moving the projection lens, subsequent slides will maintain that same distance. Continuous focus adjustment suggests that: 1 The curvature of the slide is changing because of the varying heat absorption rate of the transparency. 2 The autofocus system is out of calibration. 3 The autofocus system has a bind (it is being restricted from free operation).

Jim Jun 24, 2014. Try looking at the far end of the transmission just before the drive shaft (on the driver side). The sensor is a tiny piece of plastic screwed to the transmission by a (10 mm head) screw.
It is a round cylinder inside the transmission. Also connected to the plastic piece is a wire that is about 1 foot long to its connection. The speed sensor actually won't slide out since the floor board is in the way.
It is necessary to remove both cross-members of the drive shaft and leverage the shaft down to slide the sensor out (3/4' wide by 1' long). Thank You Dec 28, 2012. First of all, the shutter will only open IF there is a slide in the gate.
Assuming there is a slide in the gate, there are 2 things that could be preventing the shutter from opening: 1. Most likely - the shutter is spring-loaded. If the spring unhooks or is missing, the shutter will not open. There is an adjustment that needs to be made after the spring is replaced or re-hooked (or just is out of adjustment.
