I bought a refurbished from. This is a copy-n-paste of what I posted on the Daily Training thread. Today, 7AM a van arrives with three guys to deliver the PowerJog JX100 treadmill. We actually saw them at 6.30AM but they waited till seven since that is what we had agreed with Amazon.

After a few go's they finally managed to get the JX100 in through the doors of the side-annexe of the house. They laid clean rugs everywhere and did a marvellous job not to damage the floor, walls, door-frames etc. They assembled, tested and cleaned the JX100, making sure all the items in the room where put back where they were. Fantastic manners and VERY professional. I was dead impressed with them and they earned a big tip. The JX100 goes to 25kph (ie 2.4mins/km), 15.5 mph (ie 3:52/mile pace). Maximum incline is a 25%.

Best of all the Polar HR Strap does work with it. Once the HR limits are set the JX100 automatically speeds up and slows down to keep you within the HR limit.

The Control Panel was also very easy to use ie no need for a manual, pretty obvious. I only had a quick few minutes on so I'll post more info as I find out more about it.

So far so good. Good point Count. I thought about this carefully before purchasing. My particular reasons were:- 1.

I already run morning but want to increase the running I do in the evenings (eg 1hr+). However I don't want to be away from the family ie acessibility eg for home work questions etc etc. Mrs nrg-b is keen to run but not outside - just yet! We live in a neighbourhood where we have lots of friends.

Kids are interested in running. We will train outside but for the times when they're at home (and I'm at work) they can use the tready under the wife's supervision. Tready running will help me analyse my running form. JX100 is industrial strength yet all working parts have been replaced therefore should last for yonks. Over the long term it will be cheaper then a gym membership. In fact, compared to a family gym membership, tready option will be cheaper within 12-15 months. Getting out of the house and all the pallava of: driving/running walking to a gym, waiting for your tready turn, trying to stay on the tready for as much as possible etc etc is too much hassle for me.

As with all decisions, You have to look at your own set of circumstances and decide what's best for you. Update on my tready: I got it last Friday and over the weekend I broke it!! I run barefoot on the treadmill and noticed that the running deck felt funny, there was a strange smell too. What gave it away was the belt became hot. As suspected, there wasn't any (enough) lubricant oil between the belt and the deck so the intense heat had caused the metal deck to warp and buckle. It shouldn't do since the treadmill is designed to carry a extremely heavy (ie 100kg+) runners. Amazon Leisure have service contracts with local engineers.

On Monday an engineer promptly came round and agreed to my findings. Since it's under warranty they will come by early next week, change the deck & belt and provide me with loads of lub. The odd thing is that I think I need to calibrate it. When I set it for a well-known pace, it always feels too fast! I don't have the bottle to try 25kph but at that speed it hums like the Starship Enterprise on Warp Factor 9.

Overall, I'm very pleased with both the JX100 and post-sales service. Don't think the budget would stretch to the cost of a JX100. Also, space is limited. I'm looking at the Horizon Quantum ll carbon series at £759. It's got a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame and 2yrs on parts etc.

Speed goes up to 10mph and holds a person upto 21 stone, it also has lots of different programmes and comes with a free hr strap. Anyone got any experience of this machine? My reasons for wanting one is very similar to you nrg-b. I want to increase my running, by doing a run in the morning before work on treadmill then go for longer at night after work outside, or vice versa. Whatchya Percy!!

How's the tapering? The on-site 1 year deal is a warranty covering all faults. The warranty is not the same as a maint. I'll pay to get the tready serviced once a year. Right calf is now fine but lower back is causing A LOT of problems.

I'm unable to run on the JX100 let walk for that matter. Though the kids are having a fun time on it. I hope to use the JX100 for a) improving running form, b) doing doubles, and c) speedwork. By speedwork I mean running v. Fast for extremely short time intervals to get a feel for fast running. The JX100 built-in HRM shows a different BPM value to the PolarS210.

I assume the Polar is far more accurate so I'll use that - anyway the S210 comes with me for all training runs.
