We've had more than a few sites where employees found about this, and periodically put it into redundant mode without knowing that it really meant there was a serious problem. No one else knew about it, didn't call for tech support, etc-until there was huge problem with credit cards or the sales info. Consider this: Employee puts the system into redundant mode, credit cards are spooling, no money going to the bank for days, etc. You get the picture.

I haven't needed to use the mf mode in almost 3 years supporting this restaurant it was just one of those things that has been stuck in my mind ever since I got a support call several months ago and was having trouble talking the manager thru some things to get the network back up. Like alohaakamai3 said, it was a busy friday night and I couldn't get there right away.
I told her to hit the MF button (might be a pun there!) and then she said it needed a password. Long story short, I was able to talk her thru some things and got it back up. It's just been in the back of my mind ever since.

I just installed 5.3.47 on a clean Windows Server 2003 computer I had laying around in my shop, for a client to replace his dead server, but cannot get it to start the FOH. It is a fresh install of Windows SBS 2003 R3, with all updates, on a computer I refurbished about 2 years ago and has been setting on the shelf. Right now, FOH is running in redundant mode. EDC is working properly. I have spent a few hours on this, yet am at a loss. I'm hoping to have a fix before by SBS 2003 CDs are returned to me (will be 3 or 4 more days possibly).
Terminals can browse server, server can browse terminals. Can copy files both ways.
Terminst functions normally. I have installed Aloha on several Windows XP and 2003 machines and have never seen this behavior before. Yes all perfect. IPs are all the same as before, the POS is on its own network, server has 2 Ethernet controllers, POS on LANA 0. 10.0.10.1 term1 10.0.10.2 term2 10.0.10.3 term3 10.0.10.100 server 255.255.255.0 mask for all. No gateway for all.
Server second Ethernet set to 10.0.2.208 255.255.255.0 10.0.2.254 gateway, LANA 6, all but tcp/IP v4 disabled. Tried swapping Ethernets and their configurations.

Tried disabling windows firewall. Ctlsvr is normal. All BOH functions work. Terminals can browse server, create and modify directories, etc.
